At NxRev, there are two overarching systematic challenges we often see manufacturers dealing with: multiple complex configurations within a single product and ensuring engineering intent is aligned throughout the product lifecycle.
The product portfolios of many of our customers have both a depth and breadth of complexity. By this, I mean the complexity doesn’t just present itself as a large number of product offerings, but rather that their products contain multitudes of versions, interdependencies, and configurations.
For example, electronics and high-tech manufacturers working on IT infrastructure or data center solutions will need to deal with multiple configurable products, both physical and virtual. Servers, racks, enclosures, cooling systems, cloud storage all need to be correctly configured as both individual pieces of equipment as well as in relation to each other, their surroundings, and the environment.
Many manufacturers also experience challenges to consistently and efficiently align and ensure engineering intent throughout the product’s lifecycle in relation to sales, manufacturing, and service.
This is a critical factor if manufacturers want to scale their operations while also enabling omnichannel networks and offering product customizations. Having a full view of the installed base will enable more effective and efficient servicing, maintenance and upgrades.
