"Please Introduce Yourself"
I'm Andy Kimball, a Senior Software Developer at Configit's Warwick office. I started at Configit in 2012 as a developer and ScrumMaster. I now work as a Product Owner for one of the Scrum teams and I'm also involved in presales activities.
"Tell me about the role and why you like working here?"
As a member of the Product Owner team I work with the customer to understand their needs and I use this to define requirements and communicate these to my development team. I then work with the team to help them deliver the right thing to the customer.
My role in the presales process is to provide technical expertise through demonstrations, authoring proposals and developing proof-of-concepts.
I like working at Configit because it's a vibrant environment full of opportunities and challenges. My work is interesting and varied. My voice is heard and I can make things happen. There's space for me to grow. And I have the freedom to put my own stamp on my job and the company.
"What's the culture like here and why do people enjoy working here?"
The culture here is one of taking responsibility: you are expected to take ownership of your work, shape your working environment and lead your own development. It's a relaxed, informal and fun environment, with a recognition of the importance of a work-life balance. It's an open and respectful place to work. Teamwork and collaboration are really important; we're about working together towards mutual goals.
"What would you say to encourage someone to join the company?"
If you want to work at a place where your talent is recognised and where you're given the space to show your worth, then this is the place for you. If you want to work at a place where a beer on a Friday afternoon is positively encouraged, then this is the place for you. If you want to come up with ideas and solve interesting problems in a room dubbed the Idea Realization Zone, then this is the place for you. If you want to join an ambitious company, then this is the place for you.
"What key words describe the association?"
Dynamic, challenging, interesting, rewarding.
