Configit Appoints Timothy Baynes as Vice President of Emerging Business for North America

Fast Growing Configuration Company Reinforces Team Resources

Configit A/S (configit.com) announced today that Timothy Baynes has joined the company to leverage Configit’s growth in North America and further strengthen Configit’s product strategy.

Baynes comes with a wealth of experience within the configuration industry, and has a deep understanding of strategizing, selecting, designing, building, and implementing CPQ, Configurator, Sales Force Enablement, and eCommerce systems for large enterprises. Most recently, Baynes applied his skills as Research Director at Gartner, where he was instrumental in providing research and analysis related to CPQ systems and in which capacity he also became a close acquaintance of Configit.

In Timothy Baynes’ new role as Vice President of Emerging Business for North America, he will be responsible for Configit’s go-to-market strategy, including defining product road map creation and market positions for CPQ and CLM. “I’m incredibly excited to be joining Configit’s management team. During the past 20 years, I have participated in some of the largest and most complex configurator implementations in the industry, and almost always, the three biggest challenges are configurator power or flexibility, maintenance of the rulebase throughout the system lifecycle, and integration into front-end and back-end systems. Configit’s technology is world class in addressing all three issues. They have the best configurator constraint engine in the business”, Baynes states.

“Their Configuration Lifecycle Management (CLM) solutions address the very hard problems of managing configured products and product data from design through sales and all the way to the end of a product lifecycle. Equally if not more important, are Configit’s impressive modeling tools that support efficient maintenance of the configurator rulebase, something I see as the achilles’ heel of many CPQ systems on the market,” he adds.

CEO Henrik Reif Andersen is thrilled with the appointment, “Timothy’s experience and profound industry knowledge make him a key addition to the Configit team. A strong market growth rate and an increased demand for our products led us to look for an addition to our team who will fit in with our ethos of being the best in the world at what we do. It is very fortunate that we are able to get Timothy on board to fulfil this role”.

Baynes also notes, “With the recent acquisition by Polaris, which brings both investment capital as well as strong management expertise, I believe that Configit is uniquely positioned to see industry-leading growth in the coming decade. I look forward to guiding Configit’s growth in North America and helping to shape product strategy as we apply Configit’s technology to solve important problems in the CPQ and CLM markets”.

Timothy Baynes new role took effect 1 April 2016 and will be based in Atlanta, US.
