Jaguar Land Rover has selected Configit as strategic vendor for its enterprise-wide configuration project
Jaguar Land Rover is a business built around two well-known car brands. Jaguar is manufacturer of one of the world’s premier brands in luxury sports saloons and sports cars and Land Rover is the world-renowned manufacturer of premium 4x4s.
Jaguar Land Rover has launched a large programme to streamline the processes around product lifecycle management of new vehicles. The programme includes implementation of an enterprise-wide product lifecycle management tool set from Dassault Systèmes and a new ERP-system from SAP.
Configit Ace: Enterprise-wide configuration management for automotive companies
A key component of the programme and in the management of modern automotive businesses in general is the ability to manage the configuration of vehicles from the early design phases through to ordering, delivery and maintenance. After a very thorough evaluation of the offerings in the market, Jaguar Land Rover has selected Configit as the strategic partner for developing an enterprise-wide configuration management system to support all phases of the product lifecycle.
The joint development includes the development of a new standard platform for configuration management in automotive companies termed Configit Advanced Configuration Engine (Configit Ace). Configit Ace will replace a range of legacy systems to provide a single platform for all authoring of product configuration intent and the execution of configuration solves. Configit Ace will be the first product of its kind on the enterprise software market.
